This piece is a storyboard animation of the famous novel ‘Of Mice and Men’. I feel this piece is very detailed and expressive. I am inspired by the narrative of how far the characters travelled just to get a job and the trouble they faced. The story highlights the harsh realities of finding work, alongside touching up on aspects of other North American themes such as; the great depression, dustbowl, country and era, economies, itinerant workers, dreams, uncertainty of the future, racism, vulnerability. I am inspired by how these themes can be applied to current global circumstances in connection to; Covid, lockdown, moving on in uncertain times and the current racism uproar and people’s attitudes towards it.
What have I learnt from this course?
On the Level 2 Design and Photography course I have learnt to visualise scenes from a story or narrative. I have developed my practical photography, digital and drawing skills. I have really enjoyed my time on the course.
Next year I hope to progress onto Level 3 Graphics.
