For this piece, it was my final outcome from my very first project from starting this course. I used graphic design techniques with my own photographs using tin foil and different coloured lights and objects. My intention for this piece was to communicate when Yorkshire Sculpture international was being held. I was influenced by the artist Kim Sooja and the way she uses light and reflections to create a rainbow effect.
What have I learnt from this course?
During my course I have learnt how to be more organised and to plan out ideas carefully and to always have a backup plan in case anything can go wrong. I also have learnt practical skills such as how to use Photoshop more professionally to help make my photos stand out more and look more appealing to the eye. I have also learnt that time management is one of the most important things doing this course. I have had so much fun doing this course it helped me understand what I could go to next, what I’m good at and what I needed to improve on.
What is my advice for anyone joining the course?
My advice for anyone starting my course is that you will need a journal or a notebook to keep up with all the information given to you. To highlight and dissect your brief is another important thing to do so you can understand how to do that project. I would also say get to class 5-10 minutes before it starts so that you can get proper prepared for the day. Finally, I would advise that if you need help always talk your tutor and ask any questions if you are unsure of what to do but most importantly have fun and enjoy the course because it is great and fun to do and will definitely help you so much.
Next year I will be progressing to Level 3 Graphics.
