These mages represent buildings in Manchester over time. My intention is to creatively show the audience how such buildings have changed over time. From 1900 to 2020. The artist that had inspired me the most for this piece was Idris Khan who works a lot with images of buildings and layering. To edit these images. I used Photoshop, layering and blend modes to get these effects. With the layering, I used two of the same image of what buildings look like now and two of what they used to look like in the 1900. This created the effect of an illusion. After each transformation was complete, I put a blend mode on each image and this was the final outcome of each of the six images you can see here.
What have I learnt from this course?
During the course, I have learnt lots of different things that I will continue to use in the future such as, I know how to use my camera on manual setting and I know what each function is for. I am confident with Photoshop edits and have created a professional portfolio to showcase my work.
What is my advice for anyone joining the course?
My advice for anyone wanting to start my course, would be to embrace the mistakes you make! Those mistakes might become the best piece of work you have ever created. I will be progressing onto an apprenticeship from September.
